Frequently Asked Questions

If you recently installed granite in your bathroom or kitchen, you may wonder how resistant granite is to moisture. While it is extremely water resistant, it is not entirely waterproof. Prolonged exposure to water can cause the stone to change color over time. Thankfully, casual spills and water splashes will not harm your new countertops. However, please remember to clean pooling water and drips as they occur!
Short answer—yes! You must seal your granite countertop every one to five years to maintain its appearance, depending on your usage and the stone’s color. Please refer to our general care guide for additional information.
Since granite is porous, you should avoid using products that may eat away at the stone. We do not recommend using bleach, vinegar, or disinfectant wipes when cleaning your new countertops, and you can refer to our general care guide to explore additional cleaners to avoid!
Even though granite is extremely heat-resistant, we do not recommend putting hot items directly onto your countertops. Heat can damage the sealant and cause long-term discoloration. Not to mention, the surface will become hot after removing the pan, making the space a safety hazard.
